That time of year is just around the corner. We drag out the Christmas tree, Hannukah candles, or what have you, and celebrate looking forward to the new year, being together with loved ones, or maybe just hoping we get something under the tree. I know this year is rough in terms of the holidays, at least for most Americans like myself, so maybe this will make shopping for that last minute gift for the nerd or weeb in your life a little easier.

Have you ever wanted a figure, to show your love of a character, but couldn't decide between X, x, or X~ ? I'll go over all the things to think about when deciding on that timeless question, "Which figure should I get?" and hopefully help you make a decision!
Today's topic stems from an issue with older plush and beanies, particularly from the 90's. The popular trend was to add vinyl for a special effect. You may have come across a plush with this issue or found a plush you've been wanting but it was damaged. I'm going to go over some ways to hunt down these plush, preserving them, and repairing them!
Part one will cover the intermediaries available and what they are used for, how the work, and the fees involved. Importing has been the bane of collectors' existence for a long time, especially if you live in a place like Canada or the UK where custom fees only add to the expense. However, there are many upsides to using an intermediary over something like Ebay or second-hand person in the states. These two options are pricier because you must take into account the cost of importing for them and fees for the selling platform. This way, it's like going straight to the goose for the golden egg and avoiding getting the warning honk. First up, you should determine where you want to buy from. I will focus specifically on Japan here, but I have seen people find intermediaries for Germany and China also. In fact, since Taobao was requested by popular demand, I am going to include it here for you all. Japan and importing from there has become quite the business as resellers, collectors, and the weeaboos of the 90's are growing up and learning more. Intermediaries have gotten more knowledgeable, too, growing alongside their audience. Thanks to this, there are more than the two or three options we had back in 2002. FromJapan
FromJapan is one of, if not the most popular on the list. They were established in 2004 and have a generally positive reception. |
